Jeff Mead is no longer employed as president/general manager of Harding Mazzotti Arena in Glens Falls and president of the ECHL’s Adirondack Thunder, which plays in the building, according to the group that manages the facility.
The Adirondack Civic Center Coalition did not give a reason for Mead’s departure in a news release issued Friday afternoon on Labor Day Weekend, a prime occasion for a news dump.
Hudson Falls native Tadd Sipowicz, chief revenue officer of the Thunder, has been appointed interim general manager of the Harding Mazzotti Arena and interim president of the Thunder.
“We are very pleased that Tadd is prepared to step up and take on these increased responsibilities, and we look forward to another record Adirondack Thunder season,” said Daniel T. Burke, retired president of NBT Bank’s North Country Region, who serves as president of the Civic Center Coalition. Burke didn’t mention Mead.
Mead didn’t immediately respond to a phone message. A Thunder spokesman referred all questions to Mark Behan, chairman and founder of Behan Communications, a strategic public relations firm in Glens Falls. Behan said in an email his firm had nothing to add to the Civic Center Coalition’s statement.
Mead had worked for Harding Mazzotti Arena since 2015 and the Thunder since 2017, according to his LinkedIn page. He was named the ECHL Executive of the Year in 2023-24.
The Thunder set a franchise record with 20 sellouts during the 2025-26 season and averaged 4,539 fans per game, the best in team history. They went 37-24-10-1 to finish third in the North Division and reached the Kelly Cup Playoffs.
