Anti-Israel, Gen Z socialist who ousted 15-term Colorado incumbent calls for ‘more immigrants into office’

The anti-Israel Gen-Z socialist who ousted 15-term Colorado rep Diana DeGette (D-Colo.) has called for more immigrants to be elected into office so America’s “exploitative” role on the world stage can be combated.

Ethiopian-born Ph.D student Melat Kiros – who wildly claimed the elimination of Israel isn’t antisemitic – told Denver’s Wa-Ela Tigray diaspora gathering earlier this month there needs to be “more people who have heritage in the global south.”

Kiros, a member of the radical Democratic Socialists of America, spoke about the challenges of being an insurgent candidate before warning those already in power they have a responsibility to make it easier for their successors when it comes to running for office.

“The experience that I’m going to have potentially getting into Congress… is going to be very different than ‘The Squad’ had in 2018. Right?” the 29-year-old told activist Samuel Gebru.

“AOC [Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez], Ilhan Omar, Rashida Tlaib, all of these women experienced something that no one will ever to have to experience again because they experienced it first.

“Our responsibility as people that are coming into positions of leadership is to do the same for those who come after us.”

Kiros then called for more migrants to run for public office to ensure a shift in American foreign policy.

“There’s a certain reckoning that we are going to have with the global world order as it exists today and the way that it fundamentally will have to shift going forward,” she said.

“The responsibility that we have as Americans, the recognition that is going to be required of us, of the exploitative and extractive nature that we play on the global scale and the global stage is only going to be challenged if we are getting represented by people who understand that on a fundamental level.

“And that means getting more immigrants into office. That means getting more people who have heritage in the global south into office because that’s where those decisions are made specifically.”

The global south refers to developing or low-income nations located in Africa, Latin America, Asia and Oceania – and most have a history of western colonialism.

Kiros, who is widely expected to cruise to victory in Colorado’s 1st District in November’s general election, has called for an end to US aid to Israel, the abolition of Immigration and Customs Enforcement, and the introduction of universal healthcare.

She defeated DeGette by 6,878 votes in last month’s Democratic primary, ending the pol’s near 30 year career in Washington.

But the progressive went viral following the Oct. 7, 2023, Hamas attack against Israel after she was fired from her New York law firm for penning an open letter arguing that calling for the elimination of Israel is not antisemitic.

Kiros also infuriated her critics when told far-left Twitch streamer Hasan Piker that the October 7 terror attacks on Israel was an “inevitable consequence of apartheid, of occupation, decades of corruption.”

She has previously claimed that the US had made the 9/11 terror attacks “inevitable” through its foreign policy choices.

“Sick,” the Republican National Committee posted on X.
