Ariana Grande Charts A Milestone No. 1 As Her New Single Debuts

When Ariana Grande delivers the first single from a new album, her fans typically respond with such fervor that the tune debuts at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100. Launching a song atop the most competitive ranking for individual tracks in America used to be a nearly unheard-of feat, but now it’s a common sight when it comes to some of the biggest names in the music industry.

Later this summer, the singer and actress will drop her eighth full-length, Petal, and lead single “Hate That I Made You Love Me” becomes another champion for the superstar. As her newly shared cut debuts atop the Billboard Hot 100, Grande continues her tradition and earns a milestone leader.

Ariana Grande’s New Single Debuts at No. 1

“Hate That I Made You Love Me” will launch at the summit on the Billboard Hot 100 when Billboard refreshes its chart tomorrow (Tuesday, June 9). The track performed so well during its first seven days of availability thanks to both very strong streams and a huge sales sum. According to data shared by Luminate with Billboard, “Hate That I Made You Love Me” will arrive at No. 1 with 70,000 sales and 23.6 million plays on platforms like Spotify and Apple Music, among others.

Ariana Grande Scores Her Tenth Hot 100 Leader

“Hate That I Made You Love Me” is Grande’s milestone tenth No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100. Impressively, the pop powerhouse first reached the top space on the ranking less than seven years ago. “Thank U, Next” became Grande’s first No. 1 – and No. 1 debut – on the tally when it launched in November 2018. Since then, she’s racked up more immediate rulers than almost any other artist, and all of her albums released since Thank U, Next have produced at least one chart-topper.

Here are all of Ariana Grande’s No. 1s on the Billboard Hot 100.

  • “7 Rings”
  • “Die for You” with The Weeknd
  • “Hate That I Made You Love Me”
  • “Positions”
  • “Rain on Me” with Lady Gaga
  • “Save Your Tears” with The Weeknd
  • “Stuck with U” with Justin Bieber
  • “Thank U, Next”
  • “We Can’t Be Friends (Wait for Your Love)”
  • “Yes, And?”

Ariana Grande Nearly Matches Whitney Houston

As “Hate That I Made You Love Me” arrives atop the Billboard Hot 100, Grande becomes one of a very select few artists to rack up 10 or more rulers. If Petal can produce another smash – which is entirely possible considering the fact that the first pair of singles from Eternal Sunshine, her 2024 album, both debuted in the penthouse – Grande will advance again and tie Whitney Houston’s career record.

The Beatles continue to claim the most No. 1s in the more than half-century-long history of the Billboard Hot 100 with an even 20 – twice as many as Grande. Mariah Carey comes in one winner behind the Fab Four, and her 19 rulers make her the most successful woman and solo act of all time.

Ariana Grande Unseats Drake at No. 1

When the Billboard Hot 100 is published again in only a matter of hours, Grande’s “Hate That I Made You Love Me” will unseat the latest of Drake’s 14 No. 1s atop the chart. He recently advanced past Michael Jackson’s lucky 13 and tied both Rihanna and Taylor Swift when “Janice STFU,” the latest single from his just-released album Iceman, opened at the peak of the tally. “Janice STFU” has now held court at the top of the Billboard Hot 100 for two weeks, and it will soon be pushed downward by another No. 1-starting cut.

Ariana Grande Nears 100 Hot 100 Smashes

Grande earns her twenty-fourth top 10 on the Billboard Hot 100 with “Hate That I Made You Love Me.” She’s now just one win away from reaching 100 hits on the chart, a figure she will almost certainly push past when she delivers another single from her forthcoming album, or perhaps when the full-length impacts the charts this summer.
