Celtics Legend Demands More MVP Support For Jaylen Brown originally appeared on NESN. Add NESN as a Preferred Source by clicking here.

The Boston Celtics only have 10 games left in their regular season, but Jaylen Brown is still playing at an MVP level.

Brown has carried the Celtics all season, leading them to the second-best record in the Eastern Conference despite being without Jayson Tatum for most of the year. Even now with Tatum back, Brown’s continued to play at an MVP level with at least 29 points in six of his last seven games.

On Wednesday, Brown put on a show against the defending champs, propelling Boston to a statement win over the Oklahoma City Thunder with 31 points, eight rebounds and eight assists. He also went toe-to-toe with reigning MVP Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, matching him offensively and guarding him during the fourth quarter.

Brown likes to say he’s the best two-way player in the game, and Wednesday was just the latest example of that.

Between Brown’s career year and the Celtics’ shocking success this season, many believe he deserves to win the NBA MVP award, including Boston legend Isaiah Thomas.

“Jaylen Brown needs more love for MVP!!!!” Thomas posted on X on Thursday.

Thomas had a similar impact on the Celtics during Brown’s rookie year, finishing fifth in the 2016-17 MVP race, so he knows what it’s like to carry a team in Boston for an entire season.

That’s likely around where Brown will finish in the voting, as he’s clearly behind Gilgeous-Alexander, Luka Doncic and Victor Wembanyama. Brown has said he would rather win another championship than an MVP, though, so he probably won’t be too sad about it if he can help lead the Celtics to another title.
