Chipotle brings back a classic main meat with a tasty twist — plus a brand new side dish

Chipotle just brought back a fan-favorite dish, and diners have a new way to try it.

The assembly-line-style chain just announced that Pollo Asado is back again, but with a tasty twist. For a limited time, fans can score the beloved dish, but with a new recipe — freshly grilled adobo chicken well seasoned with garlic, Mexican spices, cilantro and then topped with citrus and lime for a savory, smoky flavor.

The fast-casual giant first tested Pollo Asado back in November 2021, becoming the first chicken menu innovation in its 29-year history. Diners devoured the juicy bites, which quickly became a menu favorite.

This time, the chain has added another side dish to perfectly pair with the craveable meat — the all-new Chili Lime Chips.

Chipotle took notes from fans as the chips were created from a viral customer trend. The company said it spotted guests ditching the fork and dunking store-bought seasoned chips into bowls and eating their meals like a “walking taco.”

The California-based brand decided to get in on the fun and put its spin on the chip.

“We saw guests hacking their Chipotle orders with packaged chips and asked ourselves: What would this look like done the Chipotle way?” Fernando Machado, chief brand officer, said in a press release.

“Chili Lime Chips are our answer — with no artificial colors, flavors or preservatives and an ingredient list that doesn’t require a chemistry degree to understand.”

Chipotle Rewards members will get first access to the new chips today before rolling out to all customers on September 4.

For a flavor bomb, Nevielle Panthaky — senior vice president of culinary at Chipotle — suggested ordering a Pollo Asado bowl with white rice, black beans, roasted chili-corn salsa and guac and a bag of Chili Lime Chips for an added layer of crunch and zest.

“With this new recipe, we wanted to bring more brightness and dimension to Pollo Asado while preserving its savory, smoky flavor,” Panthaky said. “The citrus finish cuts through the smoky notes of the chicken and naturally complements the tangy, spiced seasoning of our Chili Lime Chips.”

For those looking to get more bang for their buck, The Post recently reported on a “life-changing” hack for Chipotle lovers.

Digital creator Tom Yanoshik posted on Instagram how he’s able to score both a burrito and a burrito bowl out of just one order. It’s simple: order your bowl as usual, but ask for a tortilla on the side.

Yanoshik also suggested asking for a side of cheese, sour cream and vinaigrette. Customers can then make their DIY burrito by laying the tortilla flat and dumping about half of the bowl into the middle.

The hack works since bowl portions from Chipotle are typically larger than burrito portions, which means guests can stuff their burritos with nearly half of the bowl’s contents and save the rest for later. Yanoshik calls the hack “life-changing” as you get two meals for the price of one.
