Country star Colt Ford is speaking out after he was rescued following a brutal crash.
“One minute you’re headed to Germany for a show and prepping for a single release the next thing you know your bus is in the ditch and you’re getting pulled through a windshield with a broken shoulder by first responders,” Ford, 56, wrote via Instagram on Wednesday, August 12.
Ford shared a photo of the bus in a ditch with a destroyed windshield. “The crew is a little banged up but we’re all still here,” he added.
The musician didn’t offer more details on the crash or where it took place. According to his tour schedule, Ford has a show on Saturday, August 15, at Tailgate X in Ballenstedt, central Germany, which is about 100 miles away from Berlin.
Ford received an outpouring of support from his fellow country artists.
“While I am so relieved you’re alive, I am so sorry for all of this brother,” Meghan Patrick wrote. “You’ve had more than your share of hard times and Mitchell [Tenpenny] and I are praying for you. Here to help any way we can, love you buddy.”
Jake Owen, meanwhile, replied: “Glad yall are okay dude. You have endured some life. Love ya.” Elsewhere in the comments section, Tracy Byrd wished Ford well, writing, “Dang, brother. Glad y’all are OK, but a broken shoulder, not the break you needed. Prayers for a quick recovery, hang in there, bud.”
Ford is next scheduled to return to the U.S. for a concert on Wednesday, August 19, at the Iowa State Fairgrounds.
The bus crash comes two years after Ford suffered a heart attack during a 2024 performance. At the time, Ford went into cardiac arrest twice, underwent 10 hours of surgery and spent eight days in a medically induced coma.
“I couldn’t have been anymore on death’s door. I died twice that day,” Ford told Mayo Clinic in 2025. “When one of the top heart doctors in the world looks at you and goes, ‘You’re 1 percent of 1 percent,’ it can’t get more dire than that.”
Ford didn’t remember performing in Arizona before the heart attack. He said he had recollection of walking back to his tour bus, which is where he was later found amid his health crisis.
“I woke up eight days later, and I couldn’t pick up a cup with ice in it and feed it to myself,” he added at the time.
After recovering from his heart attack, Ford changed his diet and lost more than 60 pounds.
“I’ve changed everything. If I go by Whataburger, I’ll eat a grilled chicken sandwich,” he told People in 2025. “I don’t do all the fries and stuff. McDonald’s used to be my s*** and I loved it, but I haven’t even craved it.”
He continued: “I look good and I feel good. I’m feeling like it’s my Rocky comeback moment. God has more for me to do. For some reason he saw fit to give me another chance, so I intend to do something positive with it.”
