Maxx Crosby is back with the Las Vegas Raiders after the Baltimore Ravens backed out of their trade for the superstar edge rusher. For now, at least.
Crosby posted a message to Raiders fans on Wednesday night saying, “I’m a Raider,” but that doesn’t mean teams will stop calling and inquiring about a trade. And it doesn’t mean the Raiders are certain to keep him.
ESPN’s Dan Orlovsky listed teams that should try to trade for Crosby and among them was the Rams.
“If I’m the Los Angeles Rams, I’m calling the Raiders,” he said. “… If I’m those annual Super Bowl contenders, and you think that you can get him at a lesser value than he was a couple days ago, absolutely. Philly, Buffalo, the Rams, Kansas City all should be making those calls.”
The Rams already gave away the 29th overall pick in their trade for Trent McDuffie, so their only first-rounder left is 13. Their cap space has also dwindled with the signings of Kam Curl and Jaylen Watson, while also having to pay $13.6 million to McDuffie this year before his $31 million annual salary kicks in next year.
Trading for Crosby would be the bold move we should come to expect from the Rams, but they’d almost certainly have to give up the 13th overall pick, potentially next year’s first or Byron Young and a package of picks.
With so many players to pay, including Puka Nacua, Kobie Turner and Young, trading for Crosby may not be in the cards for L.A.
