Dax Shepard Says ‘Nobody’s Good Enough’ for Wife Kristen Bell After Viral Cher Comments

Dax Shepard is weighing in one last time on Cher’s viral comments about his marriage to Kristen Bell.

“I think my final conclusion on it is, the best way for me to digest that is, nobody’s good enough for her,” Shepard, 51, said of Bell, 45, during the Monday, June 1, episode of his “Armchair Expert” podcast when guest Lena Waithe asked what happened with Cher, 80.

Cher went viral in January following her own appearance on Shepard’s podcast, where she told the couple to their faces that Bell is the “better half” in her marriage to the Zathura actor. However, the singer praised Shepard as a “good dad” to their daughters, Lincoln, 13, and Delta, 11.

“The truth is, I trust her,” Cher said of Bell, with whom she starred in 2010’s Burlesque. “So you [Shepard] must have something that I don’t see.”

Shepard made it clear during their conversation that he had no hard feelings about Cher’s comments.

“I adore you, and I understand nobody’s good enough for [Bell],” he told Cher.

He reiterated the sentiment during Monday’s podcast episode before joking that he’s the “next best thing” for Bell.

“The message isn’t against me. It’s [that] nobody’s good enough for her. And I love that. I’m glad that’s how [Cher] feels about her,” he added. “And I’m glad that’s how America feels about her.”

Shepard previously addressed Cher’s comments in an interview with Access Hollywood during the 2026 Golden Globes in January.

“I think we both expected that,” the Parenthood alum said of himself and Bell. “That’s why you love Cher, which couldn’t be greater.”

Shepard’s podcast cohost, Monica Padman, added, “There was a couple big headlines, but people need to go listen to the whole thing, ‘cause everything she says is perfect.”

Shepard added that he and Bell thought Cher’s comments and fans’ subsequent reaction were “hysterical.”

In a separate interview with Entertainment Tonight, Shepard pointed out that he and Padman, 38, chose to keep Cher’s comments in the episode because they “thought it was hilarious.”

“It was so good. We kept it in because it was great,” he said, adding of the way things become misinterpreted online, “The internet is a dangerous place.”

Shepard and Bell tied the knot in October 2013 after six years of dating.

Bell gushed about Shepard’s support throughout their marriage in a March interview with People.

“There’s nothing that he won’t do to take care of me,” she said at the time. “One thing that I love so much about being married to him is that he is never allergic to me shining more and more. He never gets insecure about it.”
