Did the ‘Running Point’ Season 2 Finale Just Set Up an ‘Emily in Paris’ Crossover? (Exclusive)

Netflix could have a crossover hit on their hands with Running Point and Emily in Paris.

During the season 2 finale of Running Point, which premiered on Thursday, April 23, Jackie (Fabrizio Guido) was offered the chance to go to Europe over the summer for a work opportunity. He wasn’t sure because of his girlfriend, who wanted him to go with her to Boston while she pursued another job.

Jackie’s family encouraged him not to be “the girl who didn’t go to Paris” as a reference to Lauren Conrad on The Hills. He ultimately decided to choose Europe, and some of Us couldn’t help but notice that Netflix has another show set in Paris.

“That’d be so interesting to see Jackie and Emily in Paris,” Guido, 26, exclusively told Us Weekly. “It is a completely different vibe.”

Guido noted that “it could happen” since Emily in Paris is returning to its roots after a brief pivot to Rome. Emily in Paris centers on Emily Cooper (Lily Collins) after her move to France from the U.S. for a new job. Emily subsequently ended up caught in a love triangle with Gabriel (Lucas Bravo) and Alfie (Lucien Laviscount).

Emily then moved on with Marcello (Eugenio Franceschini), but by the end of season 4, Gabriel realized that he wanted to fight for her. Emily, however, had moved to Rome and started her future with Marcello.

Season 5 took Emily and her friends back to Paris with a stop in Venice in the finale. In the last scene, however, viewers checked in with Gabriel, who was working on a boat that was about to dock in Greece, which paved the way for him to invite Emily to visit him.

“All we know is that we’re going to Greece and Monaco,” Bravo, 38, told Us earlier this month. “We have no script. I have no idea. I do want them to be happy and in love because they’ve been working on it for six or seven years now.”

Creator Darren Star, meanwhile, confirmed that Gabriel’s postcard to Emily, in which he mentioned Greece, opened the door for more surprises, saying, “We’re going to be in Mykonos. And we will get to Monaco for a bit of a surprising reason. We’ll be in Paris a lot this season.”

Running Point follows Kate Hudson as a reformed party girl, Isla, who gets the chance to prove herself when she is left in charge of her family’s pro basketball team. Guido’s character, Jackie, was a surprise introduction in season 1 when the Gordon family found out they had a secret brother.

“When we see Jackie in season 1, all he wants is to be a part of this family. Season 2, Jackie is a part of this family, and I don’t think Jackie knew what that meant,” the actor noted. “Jackie was just thinking positives.”

He continued: “But Jackie gets both sides of the coin. I think every sibling experiences both sides of the coin in this season. It’s got a heavy emphasis on the family dynamic and where our loyalties lie.”

Running Point is currently streaming on Netflix.
