Dream’s Angel Reese is setting such a dominant record that her only competition is an NBA star

Dream’s Angel Reese is setting such a dominant record that her only competition is an NBA star originally appeared on The Sporting News. Add The Sporting News as a Preferred Source by clicking here.

Angel Reese rebounds in a way never before seen in WNBA history.

In fact, the only way to capture her rebounding greatness is to compare her to a retired NBA star.

Reese has recorded 56 double-doubles in her first 74 career games, split between the Chicago Sky and the Atlanta Dream.

The record for a WNBA or NBA player since the W’s founding in 1997 is 57 through 75 games. That was done by Blake Griffin, according to ESPN.

So that means if Reese gets a double-double in Atlanta’s next game, she’ll tie that Griffin mark.

Reese is far from a perfect basketball player, but no one can deny the effort and work she puts in on the glass.

Whether it’s on the offensive or defensive end, Reese is going to get the ball — and she usually does track it down first.

Ironically, Reese will get a chance to tie Griffin with this historic mark against her first team, the Sky. The Dream visit Chicago on Tuesday night.

The Sky have a big frontcourt, helmed by talented center Kamilla Cardoso. Reese won’t get a cheap double-double in this one.

But if she can snag at least 10 points with at least 10 rebounds, it’ll be another example of Reese’s greatness in that regard.
