The Super Bowl is becoming a very bad place to be a man named Drake. At Super Bowl 59’s halftime show, the Canadian artist was ethered by Kendrick Lamar, who called him out in front of the largest television audience of the year and crushed him so badly his only recourse was a lawsuit (since dismissed). In Super Bowl 60, New England Patriots quarterback Drake Maye suffered a very different but similarly painful fate.
That’s because the Seattle Seahawks’ defense took his lunch money and shoved him in a locker. Seattle’s “Dark Side” defense sacked him six times and hit him 11 more, forcing a pair of turnovers in the process. While the Patriots’ defense showed up to keep things moderately close, Maye’s inability to find even a semblance of consistency kept the franchise winless in Super Bowls without Tom Brady.
Needless to say, this led to a lot of jokes about what a bad time it is to be a Drake at the Super Bowl. Well, pretty much just the one joke, told a million times.
On top of everyone remembering that time Drake (the rapper) took one of the most public and lopsided losses in any celebrity beef, the shady casino pitchman also lost $1 million betting on Drake… Maye and the Patriots. So, pretty unpleasant night all around.
