They’re baaaaa-ck where they belong.
The two sneaky goats who tried to hitch a ride on a public bus in Portland have been returned home to their owner.
“Billy the Kid” and “Billy the Goat” were identified as the mischievous pygmy goats whose wild fare evasion effort was caught on camera, according to an update from the Tri-County Metropolitan Transportation District of Oregon (TriMet).
The agency confirmed that the opportunistic duo made it home safely after their head-turning ordeal went viral on social media.
Since their great escape, the owner reportedly fixed the gate to their pen to ensure “the adventurous goats are safe and sound,” TriMet said Thursday.
Newly-released footage from inside of the bus shows the goats stealthily embarking just as the doors were closing, shocking fellow commuters during rush hour on Tuesday morning.
“Some goats just got on,” one stunned straphanger says to another.
The bus operator spotted the fare-evading goats and re-opened the doors to let them out.
“It was the most strange thing [that] happened to me in my modest career,” the bus’ operator Abdellah L. said in an interview with the transit agency shared on Friday.
Abdellah said he was “a little bit nervous” as he didn’t know how the goats would behave aboard his bus.
“So I was going to secure my bus and try to get them out of the bus. And one of the passengers volunteered and get them out of the bus,” he said.
“It was funny, I think they did not have the valid pass or valid hop, that’s why they left right away,” Abdellah quipped.
The bus operator rated the pair of pygmy’s an eleven out of ten “because they did great and as soon the passenger told them to leave, they left quietly and safely.”
The transit agency has since released a t-shirt featuring Billy and Billy as a “nod to one of our favorite moments in TriMet history.”
“The internet’s favorite TriMet passengers have officially made it to a T-shirt,” the website says.
“Whether you followed the story on Insta or just love a good goat pun, this shirt is a fun way to show your TriMet pride.”
