Former San Angelo Central baseball star Davis Martin allowed one run on two hits, tossing six innings as the Chicago White Sox topped the Minnesota Twins 6-2 on Thursday.

Martin (8-1) is the first White Sox pitcher since Lance Lynn in 2021 to win six straight decisions, and the first since Lucas Giolito in 2019 to win eight of his first 11 starts.

The former Bobcat and Red Raider has helped the White Sox to a 29-27 record, and his streak of 20 consecutive starts allowing three runs or fewer is the longest in Major League Baseball. He has the third-most wins in the league, the seventh-highest ERA (2.00), 12th-best WHIP (0.99) and 22nd-most strikeouts (71).

Martin is also tied for seventh with the Yankees’ Cody Bellinger in WAR (3.2) among all players in MLB. He only trails Christopher Sanchez, Shohei Ohtani, Andy Pages, Bobby Whitt Jr., Cam Schlittler and Kevin McGonigle.

The 2015 Central graduate is set to return to the mound on Tuesday, June 2, at Minnesota.
