Fox One, the subscription streaming service, is jumping on the podcast train in a big way, with a “significant expansion” featuring eight programs from Fox News and Red Seat Ventures personalities including Sean Hannity, Riley Gaines, Brett Cooper, Jillian Michaels, Will Cain and Mike Baker.
“By leveraging the strength of our partners at FOX News Media and Red Seat Ventures, we’re able to offer subscribers even more compelling voices and perspectives, all in one place, while continuing to build a platform that delivers real value to our audience,” said Fox One SVP, Content Strategy and Planning Reagan Feeney.
The company called the move “the beginning of a curated podcast offering on FOX One.”
The podcasts will start populating with new episodes beginning on Monday. Fox One’s streaming subscription service launched last August, featuring more traditional sports, news and entertainment programming from Fox’s broadcast and cable properties.
The service’s launch marked a significant escalation of Fox’s streaming presence, which previously included only free ad-supported service Tubi and Fox Nation, a niche service formerly focused on Fox News superfans that has more recently expanded its remit.
Fox One’s new podcast additions are part of a broader industry embrace of video- and audio-based podcasts. Podcasters such as Joe Rogan and Pat McAfee attract millions of viewers every week through online and more traditional outlets.
Apple, whose products inspired the original term podcast, recently expanded from audio-only offerings to include video. Competitor Spotify has been offering wholly owned video podcasts for some time.
Netflix and other services are also adding video programming from prominent online creators such as Ms. Rachel, Mark Robert and MrBeast.
The Fox News podcasts joining Fox One include Hang Out with Sean Hannity (twice a week); the Ruthless variety show (three times weekly); Will Cain Country (five times a week); The Riley Gaines Show (twice a week); and Planet Tyrus (two times a week).
Fox-owned Red Seat Ventures was created to jointly develop digital content with outside creators, media brands and other companies.
Its shows on Fox One will include The Brett Cooper Show (four times a week); Keeping It Real: Conversations with Jillian Michaels (twice a week); and The President’s Daily Brief with Mike Baker (Saturdays)
Fox One plays Crime Stories with Nancy Grace, which runs every weeknight, and four sports-focused podcasts, Alexi Lalas State of the Union, First Things First, Speed with Harvick and Buxton and The Joel Klatt Show: A College Football Podcast.
