A MAJOR motorway is partially closed after a crash, spelling rush hour chaos for commuters ahead of the half-term holidays.
Traffic was stopped on the M25 between Junction 19 for Watford and Junction 20 in Hertfordshire, with five miles of tailbacks.
One lane is still closed as work unfolds to remove the vehicles involved in the collision.
National Highways said there are currently delays of around an hour.
It said in a post on X: “Traffic has been STOPPED on the M25 clockwise in #Hertfordshire between J19 (Watford) and J20 due to a collision.
“Our Traffic Officers are on scene and recovery has been arranged. There’s already 5 miles of congestion on approach. Updates to follow.

“Traffic has now been released on the M25 clockwise in Hertfordshire between J19 (Watford) and J20.
“Lane 4 remains closed, pending recovery of the vehicles involved in the collision.
“There’s an hour delay and 5 miles of congestion on approach.”
There is also traffic chaos on the motorway between Junction 10 and Junction 11.
National Highways warned of 40 minutes delays on this stretch.
