A Florida man was arrested this week after shocking video shows how he fled from a traffic stop, crashed into another car and abandoned a child while running away from sheriff’s deputies.

On Tuesday, police attempted to pull over 24-year-old Jason Kenon, who was driving with an adult passenger and two children aged 1 and 4, according to the Orange County Sheriff’s Office.

Kenon, who had multiple warrants out for his arrest, sped away and was seen zigzagging through lanes of traffic in Orlando. Deputies on the ground followed Kenon by car, while a sheriff’s helicopter kept his vehicle in sight.

The overhead video from the chopper showed Kenon trying to get around a black SUV at a stop sign before he plowed into its rear end. He continued driving after this, according to the video provided by the sheriff’s office.

Kenon proceeded to stop in a residential neighborhood, letting the adult passenger and the 1-year-old child out of the car. Deputies noted that the 4-year-old child tried to get out of the vehicle but couldn’t do so before Kenon hit the gas again.

Kenon was then shown stopping near a building, getting out of the car and lifting the child out of the backseat. The child was seen following Kenon as he ran away from police.

Eventually, Kenon jogged through an alley, kicked his shoes off his feet and then began running barefoot in the opposite direction from the child, leaving him behind, according to the video.

Seconds later, Kenon ran directly into the road and tried to scale a fence that led into a wooded area. Two police cars had already converged, with deputies ordering him down to the ground.

Another deputy went over and recovered the nearby child, who was crying and holding Kenon’s shoes. Both children did not have any injuries, the sheriff’s office said.

According to court records, Kenon faces seven charges, including aggravated fleeing and eluding, two counts of child neglect, leaving the scene of a crash, reckless driving, possession of marijuana and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony.

Separately, in December 2025, Kenon was sentenced to 94 days in jail by a judge in Osceola County for burglarizing a building and felony grand theft in the third degree. He had pleaded no contest to the charges.
