KOLKATA: Gujarat Titans are on a roll but will not take struggling Kolkata Knight Riders lightly on Saturday. “Firstly we must respect the fact that we’re coming up against an opposition who has played good cricket in the last few games,” GT’s director of cricket Vikram Solanki stated on Friday, emphasising on KKR winning four matches in a row.
And with Punjab Kings losing four in a row, an in-form GT are not sitting easy.
While much is spoken about GT’s highscoring top three, Solanki felt their middleorder might have not got its due. “I think it’s a little bit of a generalization to suggest that the middle order isn’t playing its part,” Solanki said. “It’s true that when the top order gets runs, the middle-order sometimes don’t get the opportunity, but in our case they have come good when needed,” he stated.
“Washington (Sundar) has played exceptional innings in the last few games. Even (Nishant) Sindhu has made valuable contributions by launching a counter-attack to get us into a position after we lost two wickets in the last game. So I think we must credit those guys as well,” he remarked.
