Josh Berry reveals major update on NASCAR future for 2027 season

Josh Berry is fighting for his NASCAR future. After Wood Brothers Racing decided to drop Berry in favor of Jesse Love, he hasn’t announced his plans for the 2027 NASCAR season. It has been a tough 2026 campaign for the driver of the No. 21 car, who recently provided an update on his future.

On Wednesday, Berry discussed his future during a Ford Racing media call. According to the NASCAR driver, there hasn’t been much progress, and he might be out of luck in the Cup Series.

“I’m up for whatever, Berry said. “It just seems like there’s not a lot of movement on the Cup side. People kind of have it mapped out of what they think is gonna happen and unless something changes that I don’t foresee happening, then it doesn’t seem like there are very many opportunities on the Cup side. That leads me back into what I was saying earlier with the O’Reilly Series and the Truck Series being very heavily dependent on the funding that you have to kind of put those deals together and make them work. That limits your options pretty quickly, so we’re just trying to keep doing what we’re doing and working on it.”

It doesn’t sound like Berry is making much progress, putting his NASCAR future in jeopardy. More likely than not, the Wood Brothers Racing driver won’t be staying in the Cup Series unless there are drastic changes. Instead, a full-time ride in the NASCAR O’Reilly or Truck Series would be more likely if he can find one at all.
