Knicks baseball hats top Chanel as most coveted accessory in the world among luxury shoppers selling for $400 on resale sites

Karl-Anthony Towns just dunked on Coco Chanel.

A new report from the fashion data platform Lyst found that the hottest accessory in the world is currently a New York Knicks baseball cap from New Era, the Buffalo-based company that makes bestselling game day merch.

The findings put the Knicks above hardcore luxury labels including Chanel and Gucci, along with Kim Kardashian’s bombshell intimates brand, Skims.

Lyst saw searches for the humble New York Knicks baseball hat “rise a phenomenal 4,276%” since March, according to the London-based company, which analyzes the online shopping habits of over 160 million shoppers in the luxury space.

It likely helps that Chanel’s most in-demand item, according to the firm, is a pair of Y2K-style sunglasses with tiny Double C logos on the sides, which cost about $950 per pair. The hat is just $40, though it sells out so quickly that some online resellers are gouging shoppers with a $400 markup.

The move comes as the Knicks bask in their first championship win since 1973, leading to a revival of cool team merch from indie New York brands like Batsheva and Irene Chung, along with a new series of New York Post hoodies and tops.

Caps aren’t the only Knicks items breaking data records. According to Google Trends, demand for “Knicks tees” surged over 5000% since this time last year. Searches for a “Knicks bag” are also up 800%, while searches for a “Chanel bag” shot up a more modest 90%.

But don’t shed any crocodile embossed leather tears for the très chic French label just yet.

Although Chanel was edged out of Lyst’s “most popular item” bracket, the exclusive 116-year-old brand scored Lyst’s “top brand” spot. Meanwhile, Chanel’s earnings jumped 16% from last year, owing mostly to jewelry and watches, along with a boost by new designer Matthieu Blazy, who began his tenure to rave reviews in 2025. Celebrity faces like movie heartthrob Jacob Elordi and pop starlet Gracie Abrams also helped.

So are Chanel’s coveted new pumps as rad as The Post’s new Knicks OMG hat?

As unbiased journalists, we technically can’t tell you. But we’ll drop the link here… you know, just in case.
