Lee Zeldin jokes Rubio is after another gig after Trump makes him a California permit czar

EPA Administration Lee Zeldin quipped that Secretary of State Marco Rubio is looking for a new gig after President Trump touted how the environmental boss is going to be a czar of California permitting.

“Mr. President, your great Secretary of State was looking for another job,” Zeldin quipped, alluding to Rubio’s many jobs.

Trump railed against the California permitting chaos that has ensued after the wildfires ravaged the state last year.

“Lee and his team gave them the most complicated permit within 20 days,” Trump said. “Unfortunately, it’s well over a year … [California Democrats] have been unable to give permits.”

“Lee Zeldin is going to work with the thousands of people that are dying to build their house,” the president added. “And I also recommend one other thing, give them the house plus a 10% bonus. In other words, you get a bonus, you can build your house 10% larger.”

Trump signed an executive order on Friday to allow the federal government to preempt state and local permitting for the rebuild of structures damaged by the Palisades and Eaton fires a year ago, the California Post first reported.
