The Chicago Bears are just days away from kicking off training camp at Halas Hall, and players are already starting to report for the summer.
Saturday marked the day rookies, quarterbacks and injured players reported to Halas Hall. Veterans are set to report on Tuesday before the first closed practice Wednesday morning.
The Bears’ social media accounts are sharing glimpses at the team’s top rookies and quarterbacks as they arrive, starting with Caleb Williams and Tyson Bagent, as well as first-round safety Dillon Thieneman, third-round receiver Zavion Thomas and fourth-round cornerback Malik Muhammad. All seven of Chicago’s draft picks are officially under contract just in time for camp.
The Bears have several prominent rookies primed to serve key roles in their first season. Thieneman will lead a new-look safety duo alongside free-agent addition Coby Bryant while tight end Sam Roush and Thomas are the latest weapons added to head coach Ben Johnson’s arsenal.
Logan Jones will battle veteran Garrett Bradbury for the starting center job while Muhammad is poised to challenge for a starting role, be it on the outside opposite Jaylon Johnson or in the slot as Kyler Gordon struggles with injury. Linebacker Keyshaun Elliott, defensive tackle Jordan van den Berg, as well as undrafted offensive lineman Caden Barnett, are looking to make a name for themselves and secure a roster spot.
At quarterback, the Bears finally appear to have found their franchise guy in Williams, who’s fresh off a breakout sophomore campaign where he led his team to an 11-6 record, an NFC North title and playoff win while setting a franchise single-season passing record and leading a record seven fourth-quarter comebacks.
