Los Angeles’ cutthroat restaurant scene just got a major Michelin shakeup, and a crop of buzzy newcomers from Beverly Hills sushi counters to Studio City live-fire grills are suddenly one step closer to culinary superstardom.

On Wednesday, Michelin announced that 11 new Southern California restaurants have been added to the California Guide ahead of its highly anticipated June 24 awards ceremony in San Diego, putting them in the running for coveted Michelin stars or Bib Gourmand honors.

The latest additions span Los Angeles, Beverly Hills, downtown, Los Feliz and beyond.

Among the splashiest new adds include Miura, a luxe omakase spot in Beverly Hills that’s already become a magnet for sushi obsessives willing to shell out big buck for ultra-premium fish flown in from Japan.

Meanwhile, Alto in Studio City landed on Michelin’s radar for its Argentine-Uruguayan-inspired cooking, while Casa Leo in Los Feliz earned recognition for modern Spanish fare.

Michelin also highlighted a wave of intimate chef-driven tasting menu restaurants — a category that’s grown in popularity.

That includes the sushi counter Kojima and Lielle, which serves a California-focused tasting menu.

Also making the list were Sonoratown, known for its cult-favorite flower tortillas, plus The Mulberry and Good Alley, which showcase Korean American and dumpling-focused menus.

Sora Craft Kitchen in Downtown, Arts District pizza bar Lynx, and Mar Vista bistro Electric Bleu also made the list.

Outside Los Angeles, Michelin’s newest California additions include Lucien in San Diego, Monte’s in Santa Barbara and Alice B., the Palm Springs restaurant from celebrity chefs Mary Sue Milliken and Susan Feniger.
