MLB is through the first two weeks of the 2026 season. The season has seen hot starts from veterans and players entering the first few seasons of their careers. In the opening month of the season, it’s common for players to work their way into becoming locked in. However, as the months become warmer, players begin to perform at a higher level. Here are the top 10 shortstop rankings heading into week three.

MORE: MLB catcher power rankings in week 3

1. CJ Abrams, Washington Nationals

Abrams is having the best start of his young career. He’s getting on base, hitting for power, and stealing bases. This can be the season Abrams finishes as a top 10 shortstop.

2. Zach Neto, Los Angeles Angels

Neto has reached 20 home runs and 60 RBI in back-to-back seasons. He has started 2026 showcasing his power. This can be the year he reaches 30 home runs for the first time in his career.

3. Elly De La Cruz, Cincinnati Reds

The 24-year-old continues to improve each season. He posted 20 home runs and 30 stolen bases in consecutive years. He’s aiming for his first 30/30 campaign in 2026.

4. Corey Seager, Texas Rangers

The veteran battled injuries last season after reaching 30 home runs in three consecutive seasons with Texas. Seager is off to a fast start this season, with three home runs in 34 at-bats. He will play a key role as Texas looks to get back into the playoffs.

5. Otto Lopez, Miami Marlins

Last season, Lopez tapped into his power potential. He finished the season with 15 home runs. His fast start in 2026 can see him set a new personal best.

6. Andres Gimenez, Toronto Blue Jays

Gimenez dealt with injuries in his first season with Toronto. However, he was a key player as the Blue Jays reached the World Series. The team will look to his veteran leadership as they strive for a back-to-back World Series appearance.

7. Mauricio Dubon, Atlanta Braves

Dubon has been a utility player for much of his career. This season, he’s received a high number of at-bats. His great start will see regression as the season progresses.

8. Ezequiel Tovar, Colorado Rockies

Tovar’s 2025 season was derailed by injuries. He is healthy this season and looking to replicate his 2024 total of 26 home runs and 78 RBI. The sky is the limit playing his home games in Colorado.

9. Colson Montgomery, Chicago White Sox

Following his 2025 call-up, Montgomery displayed his potential. He has gotten off to a fast start in 2026. The potential is there for him to finish as a top 10 shortstop.

10. Gunnar Henderson, Baltimore Orioles

Henderson’s numbers regressed last season as Baltimore took a step back in the standings. The team is rejuvenated this season and ready to compete. Gunnar Henderson will be a big part of the team’s offensive success.
