Multiple people were killed and at least one person was hospitalized in what’s being described as a “mass shooting” in Prospect Hill, North Carolina.
The North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation first said the Caswell County Sheriff’s Office requested assistance “regarding an early morning mass shooting on Brooks Road in Prospect Hill, North Carolina.”
A Caswell County official later told WGHP that multiple people were killed in what’s believed to be an isolated incident. At least one person was hospitalized, and no suspect has been identified, the official added.
“Deputies arriving on scene found multiple people who had been shot. One person was transported to Duke University Hospital with a gunshot wound, and there are multiple other fatalities. Caswell County Sheriff Tony Durden immediately requested the assistance of the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation (SBI),” the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation later said in a statement.

The agency said the shooting happened around 8 a.m. local time at an address on Brooks Road.

“SBI Crime scene investigators are on scene processing evidence and conducting interviews. There is NO THREAT to the general public, and the event is contained to the above address,” it added.
“The Caswell County Sheriff’s Office is the lead agency on this case. They are assisted by the SBI, the NC State Highway Patrol, the Prospect Hill Fire Department, Caswell County EMS, Caswell County Emergency Management, Caswell County 911, and the Person County Sheriff’s Office,” the statement also said.
The Caswell County Sheriff’s Office did not immediately respond to a request for comment from Fox News Digital.
