Mum and her 2 kids GUILTY of knifing relative to death in grisly revenge attack

A MUM and her two kids have been found guilty of murder after they stabbed a relative to death in a revenge attack on his doorstep.

Joanne Maxwell, 47, her son Liam Donlin, 25, and daughter Amie Clegg, 22, “worked as a team” to plot the brutal slaughter.

The trio lured their distant relative Paul Scott out of his home in Blackburn amid “beef” between him and Maxwell.

He had attempted to break up a fight Maxwell was involved in back in September 2024.

On June 22 last year, Clegg filmed her brother stab Paul in the heart as he told him: “Go on, you little f***ing rat.”

Clegg and her mum then teamed up to spin a web of lies – claiming they did not know Paul had come to be injured.

Maxwell, Clegg and Donlin have today been found guilty of murder following a trial.

The mum and daughter were also convicted of possession of a bladed article at Preston Crown Court

Prosecutor Richard Little KC said: “This was no accident. This was a severe stab wound, deliberate, straight to the chest and heart of Paul Scott.

“[Donlin] did it because his mum had history with Paul Scott.

“They all wanted the same thing. They wanted to teach Paul Scott a lesson. They wanted to chop him up with a knife or knives.

“They wanted to visit him at night with knives and attack him with knives. They are all guilty of murder.”

Jurors heard Maxwell and Clegg had gone out together to the Gate Bar and Grill in Blackburn on June 21.

They later met up with Donlin and all of them took a cab together back to the family home in Darwen, Lancashire.

The driver heard Maxwell say: “It needs to be sorted out tonight. It needs to be done.”

He also said Donlin, who had only just been released from prison, was “getting charged up in a bad way”, the court was told.

After the trio returned home, they took four knives from a block in the kitchen before Donlin messaged a pal saying: “Bro, some kid has put it on my mum. I need a ting (firearm) G.”

As they all made their way to Paul’s home, he sent voice notes saying he was going to “chop this kid up now” in earshot of his mum and sister.

Mr Little said Maxwell had recruited her 6ft1ins former kickboxing champion son after the issue arose between her and Paul.

He added: “The reason they are all there is because of her.

“She not only encouraged it, she championed it. She was the director and producer of that violent movie.”

Mr Little said despite this, all three had a role to play in the fatal stabbing.

The court heard Clegg knew where Paul lived and directed her family to his home that night while carrying the knives in her bag.

She also lured the victim to the door and despite urging “don’t actually stab him”, she was part of the team and knew there was an intention to kill Paul, it was said.

Clegg later lied about her and her brother’s names and told the ambulance service she didn’t know the address she was at or how Paul suffered his injuries.

Speaking after the verdict, Paul’s family said: “The past seven months has been the most challenging time our family has ever had to endure. A family’s worst nightmare.

“Our beloved Paul Scott was taken from us in an unimaginable act of cruelty. Set upon by a mother, her daughter and her son. A trio of evil attacked, killed and filmed Paul’s last moments in the dead of night on his own doorstep.

“Over this three-week trial we have been forced to relive this twisted nightmare in horrific detail.

“It’s been a long road towards justice for Pauly.

“We, as a family would like to thank everybody involved in securing today’s convictions.
