New In-N-Out opens this year in $1B outdoor project bigger than Central Park in Southern California

One of the most ambitious developments in California will feature a new In-N-Out, The Post can reveal.

The sprawling $1 billion outdoor mega park project that will eventually dwarf New York’s Central Park is getting its own cult-favorite burger chain.

The Animal Style joint will anchor part of “The Canopy,” a new 90,000-square-foot retail and dining destination that is currently under construction inside the Great Park in Irvine.

Designed to be an “all-day destination,” the Canadian Asian grocery giant T&T Supermarket is also slated to open in the space in the winter, along with In-N-Out Burger.

Expected to open at the end of 2026, the In-N-Out will come in at 3,808-square-feet, and will include a drive-thru service, according to The Canopy’s website.

Philz Coffee, The Taco Stand, H&H Bagels, SHOOTZ and more were also announced as new tenants opening up shop at The Canopy.

The outdoor shopping and entertainment hub is expected to begin opening in phases later this year before a broader rollout in 2027.

The Great Park development is part of Irvine’s enormous transformation of the former El Toro Marine Corps Air Station into one of the largest public parks in America. Once fully completed, the Great Park is expected to span roughly 1,300 acres — significantly larger than Central park, which covers about 843 acres.

The project first broke ground in June of 2023, and is expected to be completed in 2029.

The larger Great Park overhaul includes sports complexes, walking trails, lakes, museums, playgrounds and the park’s famous orange balloon attraction, which towers 400 feet above the city and has become one of Orange County’s most recognizable landmarks.

By the time the dust settles, the area will feature a 10,000-seat amphitheater, a massive “Cultural Terrace” housing the Flying Leatherneck Aviation Museum, and two enormous man-made lakes with multiple cascading waterfalls.

The city estimates the park could eventually attract more than 7.5 million people each year.
