The NFL has reportedly concluded an investigation into Rashee Rice, per ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
The league opened an investigation after Rice’s ex-girlfriend filed a civil lawsuit in February, alleging that he abused her for over a year. On Friday, the NFL found that the Kansas City Chiefs receiver was not in violation of the league’s personal conduct policy, with NFL spokesperson Brian McCarthy telling Schefter that there was “insufficient evidence.”
As a result of the conclusion, Rice will not receive league discipline.
“Mr. Rice wants to thank the NFL for their thorough investigation, and looks forward to the start of the 2026-27 NFL season,” Rice’s attorney, Sean Lindsey, said in a statement to Schefter.
In the lawsuit, which asks for $1 million in damages, Rice’s ex, Dacoda Jones, alleges that the receiver physically abused her from approximately December 2023 until July 2025, including while she was pregnant. Rice and Jones have two children together.
Rice was suspended six games by the league in 2025 after pleading guilty to causing a multi-car crash in Dallas in 2024. He was sentenced to five years’ probation and 30 days in jail last summer, though the charges will be dismissed if he meets the conditions of his probation.
Rice was sued for $1 million by two victims of the crash, which Rice later settled. However, an attorney for one of the plaintiffs said in July that his client had not been paid yet.
Rice’s 2025 season came to an early end, with the receiver getting placed on IR in December due to a concussion.
