Notre Dame football has lost two players to injuries suffered in practice, but both are expected to return this season.
Sophomore offensive lineman Matty Augustine injured the fifth metatarsal on his right foot and freshman cornerback Chaz Smith has a scaphoid, right wrist injury.
Both players will need surgery, but the team says both are expected to return in time to play this season — though a more-precise timeline wasn’t given.
