Pablo Torre, who has been actively on the case involving Steve Ballmer and the Los Angeles Clippers, had concerning insight about the team owner’s involvement in the NBA’s investigation.
Since 2025, Torre has been reporting on the blockbuster news that Ballmer and the Clippers allegedly circumvented the salary cap to pay millions of dollars to star forward Kawhi Leonard. The NBA had to start an investigation into the situation, having yet to conclude it with an official ruling.
ESPN recently published a report that Ballmer won’t get any punishment from the end results of the investigation. The NBA almost immediately shut down the report, emphasizing that the league hasn’t made any conclusion to the investigation.
Torre looked into the report and discussed it during his appearance on the Pablo Torre Finds Out show. He noted an anecdote about Ballmer negotiating with investigators, a concerning sign about the end results being biased in favor of the team owner.
“The subject of the investigation does not get to negotiate with the group that is doing the investigating. What the outcome is, and what really happened here… is that Steve Ballmer has been negotiating a resolution to the investigation behind the scenes,” said Torre, per a video posted to Pablo Torre Finds Out on X, formerly Twitter.
Torre also wrote that “We stand by our (ongoing) reporting on Kawhi Leonard and Steve Ballmer’s Clippers,” on his own X account.

Pablo Torre wants transparency from the NBA’s investigation into the Clippers. If Steve Ballmer is making an impact on the results to avoid punishment, Torre will point that out to emphasize accountability from many basketball fans.
Ballmer has been the Clippers’ owner since 2014 following the NBA’s decision to ban former team owner Donald Sterling from the league. The multi-billionaire has helped the franchise be relevant by being consistent playoff contenders, going as far as the 2021 Western Conference Finals.
Los Angeles looks to be embracing a new era, trying to complete the trade with the Toronto Raptors involving Kawhi Leonard when the investigate concludes. The franchise hopes to turn to a new direction, wanting their long-term success to be promising instead of being in the middle of the pack.
