A PHONE hacking campaigner has been accused of being untruthful while giving evidence in Prince Harry’s privacy trial against the Daily Mail publisher.

Dr Evan Harris, 60, works as a researcher for the legal team representing claimants.

On Thursday, he denied seeing a December 2016 memo written by a colleague about an investigation into alleged hacking at Associated Newspapers.

When Antony White, for the publisher, suggested this was untruthful, he insisted: “It was not a falsehood.”

Former Lib Dem MP Dr Harris rejected claims of such a conspiracy.

Associated Newspapers strongly denies allegations its journalists hired private eyes to gather information unlawfully.

Associated denies wrong-doing.

The High Court trial continues.
