Manufacturers’ sales incentives, including cash rebates, lease deals and discounted financing, have become relatively common over the years to help dealers clear inventories of slow-selling and overstocked models. According to Kelley Blue Book, incentive spending now accounts for around 7% of the national average transaction price, with electric vehicles at a generous 14%.
While checking automakers’ websites uncovered a healthy list of models offering $4,000-$10,000 in cash-back deals this month, one brand is going all out to move the metal with incentives at stratospheric levels.
With the federal Department of Commerce set to begin blocking the import and sales of cars with connected-vehicle technology linked to China or Russia, Volvo electric-car subsidiary Polestar has decided to phase out its U.S. operations following the 2027 model year. It’s already begun what amounts to a full-scale fire sale, with cash rebates as big as $25,000 on the Polestar 4 and $23,000 on the Polestar 3.
For those keeping score, the Polestar 4 starts at $56,000, with the rebate slashing the price to around $31,400. That’s essentially a whopping 45% off the MSRP, and that’s just for walking in the door.
Also of note, Dodge is bringing back its Power Dollars program this month, in which gas-powered Charger models are being offered with a $10 cash allowance for every horsepower. That comes to $4,200 cash back on the 420-horsepower Dodge Charger R/T and R/T Plus Sixpack models and a $5,500 rebate on 550-horsepower Dodge Charger Scat Pack and Scat Pack Plus Sixpack trims.
We’re featuring the complete list of 40 cars, trucks and SUVs offering the most valuable cash rebates below. Keep in mind that cash rebates come directly from the automaker and do not include the dealer’s discount. Be sure to negotiate the transaction price separately from any cash rebate that may apply and as should always be the case, shop around for the best bottom-line deal.
Also, be aware that automakers’ incentives often vary by region to address local supply and demand issues, and sometimes vary from one model’s trim level to another. In addition, automakers also offer extra rebates to military members, first responders and current owners/lessees of both same-brand and competing models. Be sure to check a manufacturer’s website, usually under a “local offers” or “special deals” tab to confirm what’s being offered locally.
