With all of the roster turnover that the Boston Celtics have been going through as Celtics President of Basketball Operations Brad Stevens and company have been undertaking, one would not be surprised if team chemistry took a hit. Especially given so many of the team’s younger players are trying to establish themselves to fill the scoring gap left by the trade of star forward Jaylen Brown to the Philadelphia 76ers.
But in a recent interview (via CLNS Media), Celtics reserve wing Ron Harper Jr. made it clear that the reverse has been happening. “That’s a beautiful thing about being on the Celtics, we all care about each other, we all want each other to succeed no matter what it looks like (…),” he explained. “It’s a lot of guys competing for minutes, but also pushing each other to get better.”
“So we’re just worried about being great teammates, pushing each other to get better and going about it in the right way,” he added, “and it all rewards you in the right way.” Even so, the exit of one key member of last season’s team still looms particularly large for Harper Jr., who looked to Brown as a veteran coming up in the organization.

“Obviously sad to see him go,” said the Celtics wing. “A guy that I’ve grown close to in my time with the Celtics across two training camps and a full season. A guy that I have a lot of respect for and a guy that still trusts me when I was still on an Exhibit 10 (training camp deal).”
“I remember the message he shared with me, the motivation he’s given me, and the advice he’s given me, and it sucks to see him go, but this is a business more than anything, so I wish him luck in the future, except when he plays us.”
