From a fling with Bob Harper — and the Biggest Loser trainer’s late husband — to his hookup with costar Mercedes “MJ” Javid, Shahs of Sunset star Reza Farahan‘s memoir didn’t hold back when it came to unfiltered revelations about his sex life.
In Memoirs of a Gay Shah: My Story of Family, Fame, and Becoming a King, released on Tuesday, April 7, Reza, 52, reflected on his upbringing as an immigrant to his transition into reality TV with Bravo’s Shahs of Sunset.
He also offered insight into his personal life while detailing past hookups and surprise romances.

Sleeping With MJ in High School
Before they were costars on Shahs of Sunset, Reza Farahan and MJ Javid became friends in high school. It was at that time that they “had sex twice” after taking platonic showers together.
“Two purely platonic friends, so close to each other in high school that we showered together,” he wrote. “It was during one of these friendly showers we were swapping places so I could take my turn under the water, when our bodies squeegeed between wall and window and, well, that was all it took. The shower went on longer and got a lot steamier than either of us had initially intended. Fun times with my bestie.”
Navigating His Sex Life
Reza Farahan moved to San Francisco for college but hesitated to hook up with men due to the HIV and AIDS epidemic.
“So, imagine me in the homosexual mecca at the height of the AIDS pandemic in the nineties,” he detailed. “Talk about watching your back … I became a top.”
He continued: “That’s right. For inquiring minds, the rear door to Club Reza is exit only and always has been. I don’t want anything in my body that isn’t properly seasoned, cooked, and presented. That’s my way of being gay.”
His Fling With Bob Harper
Reza Farahan met Bob Harper — of The Biggest Loser fame — while working at the gym. They developed a flirtationship, which led to them hooking up until Bob got married to a man named Scott.
Reza became “best friends with him and his husband” and their relationship turned into a “threesome.”
“Bob and I still ended up falling totally in love. For a while, Bob was bouncing back and forth between Scott and me,” Reza noted. “The end of this story is a bit bittersweet. Poor Scott, who I honestly harbored no ill will toward even though I was chasing his husband, ended up passing away. And even though Bob and I didn’t last forever, we remain friends to this day.”
His Last Serious Ex Before Husband Adam Neely
In his memoir, Reza Farahan recalled dating long term partner Dennis when he began an affair “with my younger cousin’s best friend.” His infidelity came to light and Dennis initially wanted to fight for his relationship. Their relationship came to an end after Dennis “lost his erection” when they were having sex because he lost his love for Reza.
Reza’s connection with the other man fizzled out as well and he found love with now-husband Adam Neely.
