Shedeur Sanders praised by Browns veterans after impressive play

Shedeur Sanders is starting to make his case in Cleveland.

Browns wide receiver Jerry Jeudy said the second-year quarterback looks more comfortable and more confident this summer, a sign that Sanders is settling in as the competition for the starting job heats up.

That growth showed up in practice today, where Sanders hit Jeudy for a touchdown in the corner of the end zone as Jeudy made a tough sideline grab over defensive back D’Angelo Ross. For Sanders, this kind of rep matters in a quarterback battle, especially for a player attempting to show command and consistency.

“Just being more comfortable, being more confident and that comes with repetition,” Jeudy said about Sanders last week. “Having that first year to that second year jump, you can see him out here on the field just being a lot more comfortable, confident and in command.”

Sanders is battling Deshaun Watson and Dillon Gabriel for Cleveland’s starting job in 2026 after a rookie season that included 1,400 passing yards, seven touchdowns, but also 10 interceptions. His completion rate was 56.6 percent in 2025, so the next step is clear for him to make cleaner decisions and have a stronger grip on the offense.

For now, Sanders is giving the Browns something important. He is giving them a real competition.
