After earning the most Phase 1 All-Star votes in MLB this season, Los Angeles Dodgers two-way superstar Shohei Ohtani will miss the 2026 All-Star Game on Tuesday.
The Dodgers also announced he will also miss his scheduled start against the Arizona Diamondbacks on Friday with knee irritation. Ohtani will serve as a designated hitter for the Dodgers during their series against the Diamondbacks this weekend.
Additionally, Ohtani will have some interventions on his knee to help him prepare for the second half of the season.

According to Jack Harris of the California Post, the interventions Ohtani will have include draining the knee and receiving a pain-relieving injection.
Knee Irritation Has Been An Ongoing Issue for Ohtani
Ohtani has been dealing with this issue since at least June 11 when he exited a game against the Pittsburgh Pirates with knee inflammation. Ohtani had pitched the day before and reportedly irritated his knee during the start.
Ohtani missed the following game on June 12 and has been managing the knee irritation ever since.
Back in 2019, Ohtani underwent surgery on his injured knee for a congenital condition called bipartite patella. It has not been confirmed if his current issues are related to the prior surgery.
Ohtani has continued to play nearly every day despite the knee irritation. It is expected he will continue playing everyday for the Dodgers after the All-Star break.
