‘Supergirl’ Goes Off to Another World in Spaced-Out New DC Trailer

While a teaser for DC’s new Supergirl film arrived back in December, Warner Bros. dropped a fresh trailer on Tuesday, with Milly Alcock’s Supergirl/Kara feeling a little down. She tells her cousin, Superman/Clark Kent (David Corenswet), that she has no people, but soon finds an intergalactic cause to take on all, thanks to Krypto — well, thanks to Krypto being poisoned, I mean.

There’s a clock put on Krypto’s well-being: three days. Krem of the Yellow Hills (Mattias Schoenaerts) had one of his goons do this dirty work, and putting the Superdog in jeopardy kicks Supergirl into gear.

Then there’s Jason Momoa. For years, the actor had spoken about his dream role of playing Lobo, and now he gets his chance. Momoa, formerly known in the DC Universe as Aquaman, steps into the iconic antihero’s shoes, and we’re finally able to get a good glimpse at what is in store.

Later in the trailer, Supergirl tells Ruthye Marye Knoll (played by Eve Ridley) that “revenge won’t take your pain away,” in reference to the damage Krem has done to her family. Well, now that Kara’s family — Krypto — is in jeopardy, will she be able to follow her own advice?

Supergirl, which is the second DC Studios movie under James Gunn‘s purview, was directed by Craig Gillespie and also stars David Krumholtz, Emily Beecham and Ferdinand Kingsley. The movie hits theaters and IMAX on June 26.
