The biggest swimming pool in US reopens in Los Angeles just in time for Memorial Day weekend

Forget the traffic on the Pacific Coast Highway, and make your way to the valley.

The massive pool at the Hansen Dam Aquatic Center — reportedly the largest swimming pool in in the country measuring an acre and a half in size — is set to reopen this weekend after a temporary seasonal closure that left Angelenos sweating it out.

And tickets are just $4 for adults or $1 for kids.

The Hansen Dam Aquatic Center, a sprawling 40-acre oasis tucked away in the San Fernando Valley, is gearing up to kick off its 2026 summer season this Saturday, May 23, uncovering its 1.5-acre chlorinated, man-made swimming lagoon.

It has long been a go-to escape for families looking to beat the heat without trekking to Malibu or Santa Monica.

“It’s the super stretch of swimming pools,” a nearby resident wrote on Yelp. “It looks more like an infinity pool that literally has no end in sight. “

The facility features two huge water slides, volleyball courts, teqball tables, and a fishing lake.

The pool is big enough to fit 3,000 swimmers — without bumping elbows. And even features a gradual, beach-like entry, giving people the ocean vibe, without riptides or Great White shark sightings.

“Imagine a giant resort pool, but the vibe is more like a public park with large groups and music,” one fan commented on Tripadvisor after taking his 5-year-old son to the aquatic center.

The center operates on a staggered schedule to start the season. It will be open only on the weekends starting May 23 through June 13, at which point it shifts to daily operations.

The pool is open from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. — more information can be found here.

For those who prefer to stay dry, the complex also boasts a 9-acre recreation lake for fishing and boating.
