A PEDESTRIAN in his 60s has died after a horrific traffic collision left him lying in a ditch on the roadside.

Emergency crews were scrambled to Sutton Green, Surrey, on Wednesday evening after the horror smash was reported.

Members of the public alerted cops that a pedestrian was found lying in a ditch by the side of the road.

The man, in his 60s, was rushed to hospital where he received treatment for his injuries.

Tragically, despite the best efforts of medical staff, he died two days later.

A man in his 80s has since attended a voluntary interview with Surrey Police in connection with the tragedy.

Members of the public who have CCTV, dashcam or helmet cam footage that could be of use are urged to contact the force immediately.

Detective Sergeant Dan Smith, from Surrey Police’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: “Our thoughts are very much with the family and friends of the man who has sadly died.

“Our enquiries remain ongoing, and we would ask anyone who either witnessed the incident and has not yet spoken to police, or has any CCTV, dashcam, or helmet cam footage that may have captured all or part of this incident to get in touch.”
