Former Park High School football star and NFL running back Tre Mason was arrested in the early morning hours of July 18 in Palm Beach County on suspicion of aggravated battery against someone who is pregnant.

According to the arrest record provided by the county, Mason was booked at 4:14 a.m. Saturday morning for aggravated battery on a pregnant victim and simple assault. He was taken to the main detention facility in Palm Beach County, where he was awaiting arraignment.

Mason, 32, was a finalist for the Heisman Trophy in 2013 at Auburn, where he broke Bo Jackson’s single-season rushing record for the Tigers. He was picked in the third round of the 2014 NFL Draft by the St. Louis Rams. He rushed for over 700 yards as a rookie, but his usage dipped significantly in his second season.

After the 2015 season, Mason was arrested that March in Hollywood, Florida, for reckless driving, resisting arrest and possession of marijuana, among other charges. Later that year, he was arrested again after leading Palm Beach County sheriffs on a high-speed chase on his ATV. He also did not report for training camp with the Rams, who placed him on the “did not report” list for 2016 and released him the following season.

Mason played in the CFL in 2018 for the Saskatchewan Rough Riders, but suffered a knee injury near the end of that campaign, which ruled him out for 2019.
