A MUM and daughter died in a horror crash – with a man arrested and their family paying a heartbreaking tribute.

Josefina Gatdula, 71, and daughter Jonifel Mae Gatdula, 25, died in a collision between their Audi and a HGV fuel tanker.

The car was shunted 100m up the road in the smash on the A10 in Cambridgeshire on February 12.

It happened at about 6.40pm on a single carriageway road, which runs parallel to Chettisham.

The male HGV driver, 40, was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.

In a statement, Josefina’s husband and Jonifel Mae’s dad Felix said he lost the two people “who were my whole world”.

He continued: “Josefina was the heart of our home, full of strength, kindness, and unwavering love.

“Jonifel Mae was our miracle, a bright and gentle soul who carried her mother’s warmth.

“Their absence has left a void that can never be filled, but the love they gave will stay with me forever.

“I am deeply grateful to our family, friends, and community for the support and compassion you have shown during this unimaginable time.

“My thanks also go to the first responders who cared for them with such kindness.

“As we lay them to rest, I ask for privacy while we grieve. Josefina and Jonifel Mae will forever live in my heart.

“Until we meet again. I love you both.”

The HGV driver, from Basildon, Essex, was checked by paramedics but was uninjured.

He was released on bail following his arrest until May 10 pending further enquiries.

Officers are appealing for information and dashcam footage from anyone who may have witnessed the collision, or the vehicles in the moments leading up to it.

Anyone who still wishes to submit information can contact police online here, quoting Operation Eastcote or incident 455 of 12 February.

Those without internet access should call 101.
