TWO women have died after a horror crash between a car and a fuel tanker.

Police said the fatal crash happened on the A10 between Littleport and Ely at around 6.40pm on Thursday.

The driver and front seat passenger of the Audi, aged 25 and 71 and both from Littleport, were sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

Cops said that the driver of the tanker, a 40-year-old man from Basildon in Essex, was uninjured.

The driver was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and bailed until May 10.

The tanker left the road and came to rest in a nearby field, while the Audi was pushed 100m (328ft) further up the road, according to cops.

Cambridgeshire Police asked for anyone with information or dashcam footage in relation to the crash to get in touch.

Cops said anyone with information should contact Cambridgeshire Police quoting Operation Eastcote or incident 455 of 12 February.

Those without internet access should call 101.
