A fast-moving fire that tore through a Riverside apartment complex, leaving 150 residents — including UC Riverside students — without a home.

The blaze broke out around 11:11 a.m. at University Riverside Gardens, located at 3996 Iowa Ave., just west of the UC Riverside campus.

Firefighters arrived to find flames already shooting through the roof, indicating the fire had spread rapidly through the structure.

Riverside Fire Division Chief Greg White told The California Post the blaze ultimately impacted about 50 of the building’s 112 units, displacing residents across the property as it tore through the complex.

In total, about 150 people were forced to evacuate.

White confirmed that students were among those displaced, though the exact number of UC Riverside students affected has not been determined.

“Many” students were among the displaced, according to NBC.

All residents made it out safely, and no injuries were reported.

While the apartment complex is not owned or operated by UC Riverside, university officials said they are working to provide support and basic needs to any students impacted by the fire.

“While the affected property is not owned or operated by UCR, the university is working to determine how many UCR students reside at that location and provide resources and basic needs,” a spokesperson said.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
