Bayern Munich swept aside Atlanta in the Champions League Round of 16 with a hefty 10-2 aggregate scoreline. What makes it even more impressive is that for half the tie, Harry Kane didn’t even have to feature. Now, with Real Madrid looming over the horizon, Kane makes a bold statement.
“It’ll be a tough game. Whenever you face Real Madrid in the Champions League, you expect a fight. But we’ll be ready. We don’t fear anyone, even though it’s going to be tough,” the striker told the media following the win over Atalanta (via @iMiaSanMia).
Given that Bayern Munich have not beaten Real Madrid in a CL knockout tie since 2012, Kane may be getting a little ahead of himself. On the other hand, it is true that this current edition of FC Bayern fears no one. The last time these two teams met, Thomas Tuchel set up his team to defend and weather a Madrid onslaught. This time, the dynamic will be very different.
Kane, of course, will have his own role to play. He better be ready to back his words with goals and assists.
