We flew with two dogs on JSX, here’s what it was really like

Flying with two dogs can turn a simple trip into a production, but that was hardly the case on a recent getaway from Burbank to Reno flying JSX.

The public charter air carrier recently partnered with Petco to make traveling with pets more seamless, and to celebrate National Dog Month in August, we put the experience to the test with our English bulldog, Bentley, and Bernedoodle, Story.

We arrived at JSX’s dedicated Burbank terminal about 20 minutes before departure, checked in within minutes and were soon heading out to the plane.

Bentley even received some VIP treatment when the ground crew wheeled him out in a wagon, much to everyone’s amusement.

There were several other dogs onboard our flight. Once in the air, drinks and a selection of snacks were included, while Bentley and Story settled in for the short trip to Reno.

The JSX and Petco partnership also includes Petco-branded planes and other pet-focused touches throughout the travel experience.

After landing, a ramp made it easy for the dogs to walk off the plane. Outside the JSX hangar, our rental car from Go Rentals, an official JSX partner, was already waiting.

That meant no shuttle to a rental car center and no additional line. Within minutes, we were driving toward downtown Reno.

Our home base was the Best Bet Motor Lodge, a renovated retro motel where dog beds, bowls, and treats were waiting in the room. Bentley and Story also received Petco toys and treats before spending the next two days exploring dog-friendly Reno and Tahoe.

Before our flight home, Story burned off some energy at Reno’s Biggest Little Dog Park.

Back at JSX, the dogs finished the trip with their own version of “wings”: WholeHearted dog cookies from Petco decorated with the Petco logo and a set of doggy wings.

After two days traveling with Bentley and Story, the biggest takeaway was convenience, definitely far easier than the traditional airport experience.
