Howard University is no stranger to the NCAA men’s basketball tournament in recent years. As of 2026, the Howard Bison made their third trip to the tournament in four years after being crowned champions of the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference this spring.
Not only that, Howard won their first-ever tournament game on Tuesday, besting No. 16 UMBC in the First Four!
So, now that Howard has officially made it past the First Four, you might be wondering where the university is located. Founded in 1867, Howard University is less than a 15 minute drive from Capitol Hill and the National Mall, so it’s located pretty much in the heart of the city.
