Taylor Frankie Paul is not in contact with Dakota Mortensen after their alleged altercation.

“Right now, they aren’t in communication at all,” a source tells Us Weekly exclusively. “Everything regarding custody of Ever is handled through family members.”

News broke on Monday, March 16, that Taylor, 31, and Dakota were involved in an alleged domestic dispute, which led to a halt in production on The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives season 5. Utah’s Draper City Police Department confirmed to Us Weekly that there was an open “domestic assault investigation” related to Taylor and Dakota, explaining that allegations were “made in both directions.”

“No one in their inner circle is shocked by this,” the source tells Us, adding that friends hope “this will be the final straw for them and they can both get the help they need to move on.”

Taylor and Dakota share 23-month-old son Ever, who turns 2 on Thursday, March 19. Fans have watched their ups and downs unfold on screen since Mormon Wives premiered in September 2024.

Taylor was previously charged with aggravated assault, two counts of domestic violence in the presence of a child, child abuse with injury and criminal mischief following a 2023 incident involving Dakota. Her arrest and the aftermath was showcased during the first season of Mormon Wives. (Taylor claimed during a September 2025 appearance on the “Call Her Daddy” podcast that all the charges were dropped.)

Taylor — whose season of The Bachelorette premieres on Sunday March 22 — broke her silence on the alleged incident during an exclusive interview with Us on Tuesday, March 17.

“There’s more to the context to everything and it’s unfortunate,” she shared during an event in NYC. “It’s been hard. And it sucks to be in this position. And the mother that I am, that is something I will always stand my ground on. I believe that I am a good mother and I have always treated my kids very well.”

She continued, “The headlines that are out right now are very hard to see because that’s not the truth of it. I have always treated my children with respect and I’ve never touched them. So it’s been really hard.”

Taylor told Us that it was “unfortunate” timing for this news to be making headlines days before her Bachelorette premiere.

“It’s another premiere that’s been taken away from me,” she explained. “I’ve never enjoyed a premiere for any one of my shows. So it’s just been very sad.”
