A 27-year-old woman was discovered beaten to death Sunday inside a Manhattan apartment, where a young child had been left alone with her battered body for an unknown length of time, according to police sources.
The NYPD, responding to a wellness check, discovered the woman’s corpse inside along with the 5-year-old, who was unharmed, at the gruesome scene on 156th Street near Amsterdam Avenue shortly after 1:30 p.m. in Washington Heights, cops and sources said.
The woman’s face and neck were left badly beaten, according to the NYPD.
The deadly incident appears to be domestic, with the suspect still on the loose, sources told The Post. The nature of the victim and killer’s relationship wasn’t immediately clear on Sunday.
The New York City Office of the Chief Medical Examiner will determine the cause of death, police said.
The woman’s identity was not released pending family notification.
