A woman has died after she allegedly fell from her room’s balcony onto the deck below while aboard a Carnival cruise, according to a report.

The passenger was on the Carnival Firenze, near Catalina, when the alleged incident happened.

Carnival crew members were reportedly alerted to the incident by the woman’s family, who she was traveling with, according to NBC LA.

It’s not yet clear what caused the woman to fall or what led up to the incident.

“All appropriate authorities have been alerted,” a Carnival spokesperson told the outlet.

“As is customary, law enforcement will board the ship today on Catalina Island to conduct the required investigation,” they added.

“Carnival’s Care Team is supporting the guest’s family, and our thoughts and prayers are with them and their loved one,” the spokesperson concluded.

The woman’s identification was not made available.

The Carnival Firenze sails out of Long Beach and can hold 4,126 guests and 1,425 crew members, according to Carnival’s website. The ship has a length of 1,061 feet.

The cruise ship mishap marks the second incident in as many days in the United States.

A crew member went overboard from a Norwegian Cruise Line ship off the Massachusetts coast Sunday, triggering a large-scale search and rescue response.

Surveillance video captured the unidentified employee falling from the side of the Norwegian Breakaway into frigid waters roughly 12 miles off Cape Cod.
