Night 1 of SummerSlam 2026 is in the books as superstars of WWE put on another decent night of professional wrestling to get fans ready for what is to come on Sunday for Night 2.
In a night filled with emotion as Randy Orton returned to help CM Punk retain the Undisputed WWE Championship against Cody Rhodes, and fans closed the door on the Brock Lesnar era in WWE, it can only add to the intrigue for what WWE is going to bring in the second night of SummerSlam.

Full match card results
WWE Women’s World Championship: Liv Morgan (c) vs. Iyo Sky
Winner: Liv Morgan
Talk about a tone-setting match to kick off Night 1 of SummerSlam. Women’s World Champion Liv Morgan and Iyo Sky once again showed fans why they aren’t just two of the top women’s stars but also two of the best athletes on the roster.
In a match that allowed Sky to show her brilliance in the ring despite a brief but expected interference from Judgment Day members Raquel Rodriguez and Roxanne Perez, it was Morgan who, at the end of the match, landed an array of finishing moves, including two of her signature “Oblivions” and picking up the win.
The Usos and Jacob Fatu vs. Royce Keys, LA Knight, and Solo Sikoa
Winner: Royce Keys, LA Knight, and Solo Sikoa
Call it a change of pace and maybe even comedic relief, thanks to rising star Solo Sikoa, but the six-man tag match was a refreshing challenge for all six performers who were able to make their mark in a rather short amount of time.
It was expected that The Usos would showcase why they’re still one of the top teams in the industry, with cousin and Bloodline enforcer Jacob Fatu joining their side. However, it would be the unlikely chemistry of the Keys, Sikoa, and Knight to come out and steal the show right from under the Bloodline members to come out with a win.
With a huge crowd pop before the match even began for Knight, it’s clear the WWE needs to capitalize on his momentum before it’s too late. Meanwhile, Keys and Sikoa proved to be budding stars for the SmackDown roster.
Gunther vs. Nick Aldis
Winner: Gunther
A dream match for some, Gunther and SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis finally collided in the ring, as the GM made his debut as a wrestler in WWE.
Dialing back the clock momentarily, it felt like Aldis really had a chance to show Gunther that even an aging veteran can still put a superstar through the wringer and make him submit.
However, like all of Gunther’s opponents in the past several matches, Aldis eventually slipped up, giving the Ring General an opportunity to switch momentum and lock in the rear-naked choke.
Fatal Influence vs. The Bella Twins & Paige
Winner: Fatal Influence
Perhaps a change of tides in the WWE Women’s division is in the very near future for SmackDown, as Fatal Influence comfortably takes down the veteran team of The Bella Twins and Paige.
Jacy Jayne and the Fatal Influence stable did a lot of the heavy lifting in this quick match, which really seemed to be a setup for what followed.
Turning on Paige, the Bella twins will now presumably become a heel team together and attempt to reclaim the WWE Women’s tag team titles from Fatal Influence.
Undisputed WWE Championship: CM Punk (c) vs. Cody Rhodes
Winner: CM Punk
A battle between two wrestlers who shared similar paths to superstardom, Undisputed WWE Champion CM Punk and Cody Rhodes, took each other to the limit in an exhilarating matchup that certainly would have made Dusty Rhodes smile.
Matching one another every step of the way, Punk and Rhodes hit each other with crushing blows and signature submissions that kept fans inside the U.S. Bank Arena on their feet.
Going the distance, the two SmackDown stars seemed to be heading for a stalemate until a surprise return by Randy Orton, who delivered an RKO to Rhodes while referee Charles Robinson was down, allowing a dazed CM Punk to reenter the rink, deliver a GTS, and retain the title.
Hell in a Cell Match: Brock Lesnar vs. Oba Femi
Winner: Oba Femi
While it was one of the shortest Hell in a Cell matches in WWE history, Brock Lesnar and Oba Femi still put on an emotional match that allowed the torch to be passed from “the past to the future,” as Lesnar would call it on the mic following the contest.
Femi dominated for a majority of the match, utilizing weapons, the cage, and steel steps to help wear down Lesnar, but still the Beast would keep on coming, eventually generating enough offense to deliver multiple “F5” finishers.
In an act of desperation, Lesnar tombstoned Femi onto the wooden planks beneath the ring’s padding, but even that could not keep WWE’s next big thing down. Femi rose up and hit Lesnar with a power bomb to end the match, as the two embraced in the middle of the ring in a true torch passing moment.
