McDonald’s accused of shrinkflation after annoyed customer receives ‘action figure-sized’ soda

They’re not loving it.

McDonald’s is getting flak for supposedly joining other restaurant chains and supermarkets in jumping on the shrinkflation bandwagon.

The fired-up conversation was sparked by a Reddit user who shared a side-by-side photo of a small McDonald’s soda and a small blue plastic cup, pointing out how tiny the chain’s drink size has supposedly gotten.

“They weren’t kidding when they said, ‘small’. WTF is this?! This is seriously action figure-sized. A few f—ing sips & it was gone. I compared it to the size of a plastic cup from my pantry. To top it off — it was $1.91 for this sewing thimble. Bring back ‘$1 ANY SIZE SOFT DRINKS!!!” the annoyed customer wrote underneath the photo in the u/McDonald’s subreddit.

Hundreds chimed in on the comment section of the post, poking fun at the small size, agreeing how out of control shrinkflation has gotten, and offering some money-saving hacks for next time.

“For 25 cents less you can get a super small,” one wrote.

“They literally sold you a water cup. That is what they would give us here in California if we wanted a ‘free’ drink,” another quipped.

One claimed that “apparently McDonald’s has been swapping the small 16oz cups for tiny 12oz ones to save money. Plus they pack it with so much ice that you barely get any actual soda. it’s a rip-off.”

While another suggested customers should “Get it without ice. You get more & its cold out of the machine.”

The Post reached out to McDonald’s for comment.

This smaller size for the same money tale is as old as time in 2026.

In April, Chick-fil-A was called out for supposedly shrinking their Deluxe Sandwich as a Reddit user shared two photos of the popular menu item, one from 2021 and one from today.

Both were made with the works — lettuce, a sliced tomato, and a fried chicken breast. But today’s version looked flatter, less meaty and overall less appetizing compared to the 2021 version.

And in 2025, eagle-eyed Costco customers noticed the warehouse giant’s brown butter sugar cookies reportedly had fewer in the package than usual — 21 versus 24 cookies, to be exact.

“Where did the other 3 go?” one person asked on Reddit.

“21 count? Man first they came for the muffins and then they came for the two dozen,” another shopper wrote.
